A city zoo was once on the grounds of the park, but the animals were relocated in 1931 where it became the Hogle Zoo. The Tracy Aviary opened in 1938 and is a must see for residents of Liberty Park apartments. Around 400 birds live in about eight acres of the park, with many of them considered rare or endangered.
